Meet your global neighbour! Global Awareness is an educational
program designed to promote multi - cultural understanding and appreciation in the classroom. If you are interested
in sharing your culture with American children, Global Awareness is the perfect opportunity to satisfy your own interests
and also give something to schools in your local American community.
At this time of year shopkeepers aren't the only ones getting ready for the holidays.
Teachers are thinking ahead to the holidays and the celebrations in their classrooms. Teachers welcome a visit from
Global Awareness au pairs during the holiday season, and are interested in "Holiday Celebrations Around the World".
Au pairs enjoy sharing their country's traditions and often have display items to bring into the classrooms.
Many au pairs build display boards, others bring in recipes to share and holiday food
items for the children. One of the Global Awareness teams in Connecticut will, this Christmas, bring in holiday activities
and foods, and the U.S. students will do the same. The children will learn about South Africa, Thailand, Germany, Costa
Rica and Brazil, and the au pairs will learn about Thanksgiving and the traditional American Christmas.
