As you wander through Central Park on a warm sunny Autumn day, you can hardly deny the change
of season with the golden glow of Fall foliage. Anticipation fills the air as a range of traditions and celebrations
approach, it must be agreed that one of the most exciting places to explore this season, is America!
This month will
see some wicked and wonderful sights as towns across the country celebrate Halloween, which traditionally falls on
the night of October 31st. This is the perfect opportunity to be a kid again, meet your neighbours in style and get involved
with traditional Halloween activities! These include decorating the house with Jack O'Lanterns, dressing up in creepy
costumes, trick or treating for candy, and playing games such as ducking for apples. Check out this website
to discover more about this spooky time of year!
Another major celebration across the States is Thanksgiving.
This is an annual one-day holiday that falls on the fourth Thursday of November. On this day, Americans gather with their
families to give thanks for the things that one has at the end of harvest season. This warm up for Christmas includes a traditional
meal with turkey being the main feature, not forgetting Pumpkin Pie! On the following Saturday, Macy's department store
hosts a huge Thanksgiving parade in New York City. This also marks the first day of the Christmas shopping season!
With
so much going on at this time of year, there are plenty of ways to entertain the kids and yourselves! You could experience
all of this and lots, lots more with Au Pair in America!
