Meet Your Global Neighbor!
A community-based Global Awareness program has been bringing the world to young children through interactive
presentations in schools for 3 years. Au Pair in America au pairs have been teaching children about their country and
culture while having a valuable volunteer experience in the community.
Now, Global
Awarenss is reaching out and meeting children in other venues. In Connecticut, two German au pairs are participating
on a weekly basis in The Little Linguist program at the local library. The au pairs share language, songs and
stories about their country to the pre-schoolers who delight in learning how to count to 10 in German!
In Illinois
the au pairs visited a Brownie group with a presentation focused on the Christmas season in Germany. They enjoyed teaching
the children how to decorate gingerbread hosues prepared in advance by the au pairs. Their presentation incorporated
song, food and traditions and the children also enjoyed looking at a display of German photos. A host mother attending
the presentation said "I hope these children realize how fortunate they are to experience this".
The children
are eager for knowledge and are encouraged to visi Kids Culture Corner at www.globalawareness.com to learn more about all the au pairs' countries.
We encourage
you to join Global Awarenss when come to the US. You will receive information on Global Awareness at the Au Pair in
America Orientation and you can visit www.globalawareness.com to learn more right now!
